Feature req: Ignore a thread

I know this isn't as simple as it sounds, but I'd love a feature where with say cmd-i I could ask Usenapp to ignore the current thread in perpetuity. Which means effectively pre-mark as Read, I think.

I don't want to kill by subject, as there's too much chance of clash.

Ideally cmd-i would ignore the whole thread, cmd-alt-i would ignore the current message and all its replies.

Even more ideally, the keystroke would be a toggle, marking the thread/subthread as ignored, or undoing that and allowing it to show new messages as unread as would be normal.

I imagine this would work by message-id and references: tree, or whatever internal tree structure you use.

When you mark the thread as read SHIFT-CMD-R then the thread is ignored by the spacebar, but not by the other key events. You want to ignore these threads with 'n','p','t' as well?

No, I've communicated poorly.

I mean for a (sub)thread I have marked ignore, even when I get new posts then those in reply to the ignored (sub)thread will all be automatically marked read. The "ignore" function is all about never marking new posts in it as unread, so the thread doesn't bubble to the top of the list and articles in it don't get shown when using space/n/etc for "show next unread".

They're still there, but I'd have to make a conscious effort to seek them out.

It's a great tool for bypassing entire (sub)threads that have gone to shit due to eg political argument in a tech group. It's an "I don't want to hear any conversation beyond this point".

It allows one to ignore a (sub)thread from where a troll has posted 😃, basically.
