Am amazed at the numerous recurring problems folks are having with
Treesaver’s posts.
My guesses -
1) yEnc fails because of errors made at the news server.
2) MIME fails because some download programs are capable of decoding
MIME attachments
3) UUencoded is old and bulky, so nobody is using that any more. But
was the original encoding when all this binary stuff started.
4) posting ebooks inline - has been tested in only one instance and it
failed for my using Agent 2. Never did figure out how to decode it.
So . . .
have 3 test posts, all multipart (if I did it correctly)
test A is MIME
test B is UUencoded
test C is yEnc
All are the same book, from Project Gutenberg
md5sum as follows
6b5c4554209fea1506e5646525bdd500
*Doyle_Arthur_Conan-The_Return_Of_Sherlock_Holmes-Gutenberg_Project.epub
Expected results -
All downloaders will correctly get test B and test C
Some downloaders (especially NewsLeecher and GrabIt) will fail to
download test A.
If things turn out as I expect, these 3 tests will demonstrate that the
problem is the downloader program/app inability to properly handle MIME
attachments.
If things turn out differently, then I blame insufficient amounts of
coffee this morning.
Feel free to report your results.
Downloaded B & C not A
Got all three with Agent 6 on newshosting.**_
