No warning on deleting thread

If you delete a thread there is no warning... for an action that can remove many messages seems there should be (with the option to turn the warning off for those who do not want it).

I did exactly the same as soon as I started in on the beta - I just did most of them in the uk.comp.sys.mac newsgroup before Andre waved me over to here!

Yes this forum is the place for feedback. There's been far too much interference from other parties on that ucsm thread. An option to confirm delete would be good - I think I've seen it on other clients.

Should the confirmation be asked only when hitting de DELETE key or BACKSPACE key?

I don't think it is necessarily to ask for a confirmation when clicked the delete button in the interface or when chosen from the context menu, is it?

I think we may need a vote on this! My preference is always for consistency. However I will not be upset if the vote goes against me 😉 There are probably some HCI guidelines covering this issue.

Here is my vote: I personally prefer a confirmation for just the DELETE key.
Why? People will quickly press the "don't show again" button in the confirmation box when it popups for every delete action. Then it won't show up anymore in cases where the box is really needed, like accidentally pressing the DELETE key. But.. that what I think.

Yes, I also think it should be consistent.
One more thought: maybe only show the confirmation dialog when more than x posts are about to be deleted where x can be set in the preferences.
(I guess I would set it to 10, oters might set it to 1 or to 100)

Due to my previous newsreader, backspace is the worry for me - in Forte Agent it's "go back to the previously seen post" 🙂
I'd like a confirmation box with a "don't show again" which I won't tick for backspace but would for delete.

Xref my request for an undelete, which makes it far less of a problem to accidentally delete a post.
