Hi there

on more than one Apple Silicon MacBook Pro, im seeing lots of repair errors, that I don’t see on Intel Macs. Could this be a bug or configuration error on the Apple Silicon version?

here’s an example of an .nzb file that downloads and repairs fine on intel Macs but doesn’t repair properly on apple silicon Macs.

I can reproduce this on more than one Apple Silicon Mac that I have available. MacBook Pro 14″, MacBook Air M1, etc. All are running the latest MacOS (12.1)

if I had to guess, the bug would be in the PAR decoder section.

Just to make it more interesting.. there is the same bug on NZBVORTEX. so presumably, the bug might be in a PAR library that both apps are using.

thanks… its pretty bad if it means that neither Usenapp nor nzbvortex can be used on apple silicon Macs due to the par library being buggy. does the author of the par library have any way of contacting them to get the bug fixed? or if its open source, perhaps you can take a stab at it?

I see that sabnzbd now supports apple silicon in their beta version, so perhaps you can lift the par library from there, to gain apple silicon compatibility

No, their par2 file requires Rosetta.

* Included tools (par2, unrar and 7zip) require Rosetta emulation.

I would really love to see this bug fixed. I can’t download anything at all with my M1 based Macs

I’ve build a workaround in the next release.
With this workaround you can choose (for the Par2 library) between the old intel version and the M1 version.
The intel version requires Rosetta.

I noticed that the Usenapp app isn’t set to use Rosetta by default, and you can edit this in the Application Info (right click on Usenapp App in Applications folder, then tick box to Use Rosette)

it still can’t download anything.. im not really sure what’s going wrong.

Usenapp doesn’t require Rosetta, because it is (was) native M1.

Of course, that does not work because it used the M1 executable.
However, Usenapp v1.18 is been released today which supports the Intel Par2 executable on the M1.

But even then, I wonder if this is the problem. I have not experienced this myself on the M1 Macs and everything is repaired perfectly. Even with the M1 Par2 executable.

You can switch between the Par2 executables in Preferences->Download->Advanced
