Embed attached images inconsistent

Please forgive me if this is newbie operator error …

With “embed attached images” checked in the Newsreader prefs, sometimes the image shows in the message pane, sometimes I get a download list. It seems to vary by newsgroup.

For testing, I only chose “Files Only” files that end with a .jpg extension. Is there a reason why this behavior isn’t more consistent?

Some people post images as embedded in a text message, some just the image as a binary binary.
That’s the reason.
