Wrong name for the resulting MKV

Hi,
I had this problem several times : I start with a NZB file and all is downloaded and extracted in a folder which has the same name than the NZB file. Normal.
But in the folder I find a MKV file named like the NZB file and the folder.
For example, I want to get a film, Powder, but when Usenapp has finished I have a file named 32C5SQ8F4C7H672XT2ET.mkv and not a file named Powder.1995.HDLight.1080.mkv or something like that.

I’m on a Mac and, before, I used Unison. And I never had this problem.
Since I use Usenapp I saw this problem several times. But not each time.
Perhaps I missed something to set in Preferences ?
If someone has an answer, he’s welcome. :-)

Nowadays, the file names are posted obfuscated and the real name can only be found in the NZB file name.

What Usenapp does is rename the movie file with the name of the NZB file. However, this only happens if there is only 1 movie file in the archive. As soon as the archive contains several movie files, this will not happen because in that case it cannot be determined which file is the actual movie.

Andre Thanks for answering. In my case there is only one movie file in the archive and I didn’t find any name in the NZB file.

Several weeks ago I downloaded and extracted a TV Show season in one archive and all the episodes were correctly named.

If the NZB file name doesn’t contain the movie name either, then Usenapp obviously doesn’t know it.

TV Shows are different than movies, with thanks to the SmartFolders feature.

Andre I understand but I made a little experience. I downloaded again the MKV file “that can’t be named because the name isn’t in the NZB file” and, after downloading and repairing, I stopped the extraction.
Then I opened MacPAR Deluxe with the part01.rar file and the MKV file was extracted with its correct name.
MacPAR Deluxe doesn’t use the NZB file but the complete name obviously was found in the RAR files. 😆

Of course, Usenapp cannot see whether the file needs to be renamed. So if you have the option enabled to rename the extracted file to the NZB filename then this will always happen.

In other words, if the NZB file has an obfuscated filename, the extracted file will take the obfuscated filename.

You can disable this option and then the extracted file name will not be renamed and it will keep the original file name (like MacPar Delux does).

This can be done in the Preferences->Download->Other

Can I ask you what’s the benefit of the option “Adopt NZB name for downloads” ?
I saw a case of inconvenience, but perhaps there’s advantages in other situations.

Because the NZB file name is usually the correct name and the files you download are not.

Andre Perhaps but… When I used Unison, many times I was obliged to use MacPAR deLuxe because there was a PW (not handled by Unison), and always I had the correct name, obviously without using the NZB file. During several years I never had any problem of name.
