Unable to post to moderated group

I've been trying to post to a moderated newsgroup, but it doesn't look like my postings are reaching them. They aren't being rejected, they're just not reaching the moderators.

Any ideas what I need to change to get these posts going through? Postings to unmoderated groups work fine.

Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "moderated newsgroups".
Can you give me an example?

Hi Andre - I want to post to uk.legal moderated. It's a newsgroup where posts are checked by moderators before posting to stop flame wars etc. I don't know what extra settings I need to add to Usenapp to enable my posts to reach the group moderators. The software I used to use (Thoth) did this automatically.

I found this:

The submission address is uk-legal-moderated (at) usenet.org.uk.
(especially if you are unable to post to the group using your normal newsgroup settings due to difficulties with your news-server)

But I can't work out where to put the address. I can read the group perfectly well, I just can't post to it.

What I understand is that all posts are moderated before they are approved.
You don't have to do anything but post and wait for approval.

If for any reason your posts are not approved, you can contact the moderators by email and ask for the reason.

Yes, but my posts aren't even reaching the moderation queue - they have a webpage where you can see posts arriving and either being accepted or rejected. Mine never appear. If you look at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/ucgi/_webstump/l.ulm you see the posts coming in and being accepted or not.

No post I have tried to make with Usenapp has shown up.

I have no problem posting to unmoderated groups.

The posts apparently first go through a filter before they reach the moderator. I don't know why the filter doesn't let the messages through, but a moderator from the newsgroup will be able to answer that question.

I doubt it! All they do is check the posts they can see and send them through or reject them. They're not going to know why I can't even get to post to them.

As the software designer, could you not contact them and ask what settings need to be made in your software?

I'm seeing the same for moderated group uk.rec.cycling.moderated. Unfortunately I don't know how the moderating thing actually works either.

I have successfully posted to uk.legal.moderated using the free news server: news.aioe.org
After reading the instructions and FAQ about the moderated newsgroups, it appears that the news server e-mails the posted article to the moderator. This is an automatic process, but probably not all news servers will do this.

This is what confuses me - I'm using the same newsserver that I've used for donkey's years, and other software used to do this without issue.

Maybe it's changed in the last couple of years. I'll try with a different one.

Otherwise use news.aioe.org for posting/reading moderated newsgroups.

It's a free newsserver and they are doing it right.

Thank you - news.aioe.org are sending messages through to the moderated group. My old newsserver was the culprit.
