Need to narrow down group name...

This is an odd problem - in megasearch I have alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.prog entered in the search field, but I also get results from the alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.progressive-country group, which I don't want to see. Is there a way to eliminate posts from that group?

Yes, that is possible using the prefix "strict:" in the newsgroups search field.

So in your case enter the following in the newsgroups search field:
strict:alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.prog

Example:

If you don't use the prefix 'strict:' then the search is keyword based and will show all newsgroups that contain these keywords.

So use 'strict:' if you do not want that keyword search behaviour.
