lamarlatrell I was trying to download all of the headers of a newsgroup and downloading 4.5 million headers at a time, usenapp uses a lot of application memory. So much that it used all of the swap space on my tiny hard drive and I had to restart to get memory back.
4.5 million headers is really a lot and requires a lot of resources.
If your system doesn't have this resources available then don't download this amount of headers in a single batch.
You can't put 20 people in a 4-person car.
Usenetic does not have a newsreader, but the memory problem with Usenetic is related to on-the-fly file repair that Usenetic does. The idea behind this was great and it worked very fast up to MacOS Mojave , but since macOS Mojave, Apple has changed something in the operating system, resulting (occasionally) in very high memory usage during this on-the-fly repair process.
Usenapp has been rebuilt from the ground up and file repair works completely different, solving the high memory usage.
